Of course there isn’t any official word on this so its still a rumor. Anyways, famous company Logitech is apparently working on a UMD drive for the PSP Go. Well If this rumor is true then PSP GO with a UMD Drive will cost your pocket alot more than a PSP-3000. I don’t see anyone getting a PSP GO with this add-on since its a lot more efficient to get a regular PSP, costs a lot less too.

Here’s the sources comment on this:

source (singular) claims that Logitech is developing a UMD drive add-on for the PSP Go. The source has neither price nor release information, merely stating that the “only problem is that it’ll make the PSP a little bulky.” Logitech’s UK office told the outlet that it’s unaware of such a device and that it “may be something the US office is working on.” We’ve contacted both Sony and Logitech for more concrete information.

You’ll find support for another formats is in the plug-in folder of the archive.

This new version has many new updates and changes which include a hold mode that will improve the battery life.

GameMusicGear v1.4 Changelog:

Changelog:

Added:

New Capcom’s QSound (QSF) plugin based on the Audio Overload SDK by R. Belmont and Richard Bannister. NOTE: The plugin has no compressed support yet and takes around 10 seconds to load a song .

Testing new HOLD Mode: when you press the hold switch the screen automatically will turn off, and all the GU operations will be stoped. This will help some CPU heavy plugins, like in_psf and in_uade. But I still need to make it compatible with the remote.

Option to remove items from playlist browser. Must open the browser and press R to switch to playlist.

Save playlist feature with a simple text input dialog .

Added 22 Khz downsample option to in_psf so most soundtracks can be played without lag (but i recommend using the HOLD Mode for that purpose). You can enable it in the input plugins setup screen.

Updated blargg’s File_Extractor library to version 1.0.0. Wich allows faster browsing of compressed files. And now some large rar files can be decompressed (tested some psf soundtracks around 20 MB). NOTE: Big compressed files can take several seconds to decompress.

Updated adplug core to version 2.2.

Updated vgmstream core to revision 734. And renamed in_stream plugin to in_vgmstream to be more specific. NOTE: I have not written all vgmstream supported formats in the in_vgmstream.plugin file since there are a LOT of formats now, I just put some for testing purposes, so you have to add them manually.

Release source code of plugins based on GPL and other licenses that require release of source code. The archive is called gmgear_plugins_src.7z

Fixed:

Increased priority of audio thread and reduced cpu rate of most plugins. The gui became a little slower but i guess it’s worth it since most plugins works around 122 Mhz now .

Fixed several bugs in in_psf with some soundtracks: Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Popolocrois, Brave Fencer Musashi, and some others. Most soundtracks should play fine now . If you find a track that doesn´t work please let me know.

Fixed a bug in in_vgm (in_gme.prx) when loading a compressed vgz file from a subfolder.

in_psf not properly stopping when changing song.

Bug in terebi.skin when reaching the bottom of the playlist.

rockmax.zip skin file was missing in previous release, sorry.

November 1st, was the launched date of Sony PSP Go in Japan. Based off data from Famitsu parent company Enterbrain, PSP go sold 28,275 units on its first day of sales in Japan. 28,000 + PSP Go were sold still are not impressive compared to Nintendo DSi sold 170,000 units back at its launch in November of last year. That was a two day sales period. The last PSP hardware revision, PSP-3000, sold a little over 140,000 in its first four days in October of last year.

In conclusion, I think the PSP Go was a lil bit overpriced because it does the similar features as the PSP-3000, just without the UMD, lighter and smaller.

A great news for the one who haven’t bought a PSP Go yet. Amazon online store has cut the PSP Go price to US$244.99 with free shipping, which is $5 cheaper than anywhere else. But wait… I remembered that Sony reported a news about 300% gained sales from last week since PSP Go was released? I guess Amazon wants to push the sales of this game console; this is one reason why they cut the price. Anyway, Will other retailer stores cut the price as well?

After the $5 cut from Amazon, Do you feel the PSP Go more attractive now? Will you get one soon or wait a little longer before Sony decides to cut the price?
